Hillcrest Farmhouse is located just 100m off both the Kerry Way and the Ring of Kerry Cycle Route. The road to Lord Brandon's Cottage also passes the front gate of the guesthouse.
The family-run bed and breakfast has been awarded three stars by Fáilte Ireland and they are also members of the Irish Farm Holiday Association. All bedrooms are ensuite, have a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hair-dryer. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house for guests.
Walkers on the Kerry Way can pre-order an light meal for the evening, a packed lunch and arrange to have luggage transferred onto the next accommodation. A drying room is also available for those with wet gear and boots.
Guests wishing to stay a second night can explore the area around Black Valley in addition to the Upper Lake in the Killarney National Park, Carrauntoohil and the famous Gap of Dunloe. In addition to maps of the area, the Tangneys have a good general knowledge of the Kerry Way.
Birdwatchers interested in spotting the elusive white-tailed eagle which was recently reintroduced to Ireland should note that they can sometimes be seen flying around area of the farmhouse!
