Traveller's Rest Hostel is located on the central crossroads in Caherdaniel, where the Kerry Way intersects the Ring of Kerry Cycle Route. The house is separate to the main street and yet just a minute walk away from the two pubs and café.

The hostel retains all the charm of a traditional Irish cottage. There is an open turf-fire in the dining area and the communal lounge. Details such as the ceiling rafters, rustic tables, dressers, Belfast sink and rocking chairs all help to contribute the overall ambiance of the cottage.

There are four bedrooms altogether in the hostel. There is one twin and one double room in addition to the 4-bed and 5-bed dormitories. Bed-linen comes supplied but there is a rental charge for towels. The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils and crockery and there is a shop across the road to buy food supplies.

Walkers on the Kerry Way can arrange to have their luggage transferred on to their next accommodation. It is worth noting that the hostel may open out-of-season with prior booking.

Guests wishing to spend more time in the area can take a leisurely stroll around 120 hectares at Derrynane Heritage Park. The stone forts at Caherdaniel and Staigue are also worth exploring.
