The Kerry Ocean Lodge is a family-run guest house that is situated at the foot of Seefin Mountain. The Kerry Way passes the front of the house, when walking the 'Scenic Route' from Glencar. Located on the edge of Glenbeigh, the main shops in the village are just a five minute walk away.
With twenty bedrooms available, the Lodge is perfect in catering for large hill-walking groups. Walking tour operators frequently use the Lodge as a multi-day base for guided walks.
All the bedrooms are spacious, have a television and tea/coffee making facilities. Each of the rooms has an ensuite, most of these have showers but two bedrooms have baths (worth noting when booking, if you prefer a bath). Scenic views from bedrooms to the back of the building are of Seefin Mountain whilst those to the front are across to the Dingle Peninsula.
There are several communal areas throughout the house that are available for guests to enjoy. The two guest lounges on the ground floor have many books to browse through and board games to play. There is also seating in the reception area with plenty of brochures on local activities to read through. A dedicated Internet room allows free access to emails. There is also free Wi-Fi available throughout the house.
Guests are invited to walk along the corridors of the Kerry Ocean Lodge and look at pictures of historic scenes in Glenbeigh and County Kerry. Comparisons can then be made to modern-day Glenbeigh when visiting the village and how it has changed in the last hundred years.
Ouside the building are seating areas for guests to enjoy the long Summer evenings. There is also a raised garden to the rear of the property. Walkers arriving with wet gear can dry it in a dedicated drying room in a shed in the garden.
There are several alternatives to the Traditional Irish Breakfast each morning. A large spread of cereals, pastries, cold meats and cheeses are laid out for guests to help themselves. Walkers and cyclists can order packed lunches in advance and evening meals can also be made for groups of 10 or more people.
