The Sleepy Camel is a family owned and managed hostel that is located in the centre of Glenbeigh and is on the Kerry Way. Weary hikers will appreciate at the end of a long day that all of the shops, restaurants and pubs can be reached with a minimal amount of effort from the hostel.

The Sleepy Camel is a Fáilte Ireland approved hostel with a total of 15 bedrooms that can accommodate up to 40 people. Whilst most of the bedrooms are private twin and double rooms, there are also three-bed and four-bed rooms. Although some of double bedrooms are ensuite, the remainder have hand-basins inside the room and share other bathroom facilities.

There are several large common rooms in which to socialise and relax in the evening. There are several seating clusters within the main lounge. Television viewing accounts for one corner of the room. There is a more comfortable couch and arm chairs around the fireside and further seats at the two Internet terminals where guests can surf the web for free. There is also a library of books in the lounge. Other social rooms include the dining room and the sun room.

The kitchen is well-equipped for those wishing to prepare meals. Ingredients for a light breakfast are provided by the hostel in the morning. These include cereal, bread, fruit juice and tea and coffee. During good weather, there are BBQ facilities outside in the garden that guests are welcome to use.

The laundry room adjoins the kitchen and has a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Kerry Way Walkers may like to take the opportunity to take a rest day and sort out some clean clothes before progressing on the long stage to Cahersiveen. Hikers should know that there is no need to carry bed linen as it is supplied by the hostel.

The Sleepy Camel welcomes groups, whether they are walkers, cyclists, anglers or golfers. The hostel will be glad to help organise evening meals at the local restaurants or hotels.

Cyclists on the Ring of Kerry Cycle Route can have their bicycles securely stored at the hostel. Walkers, as well as other guests, can also hire a bicycle through the hostel. Glenbeigh might be considered as a start point for either the Kerry Way or the Ring of Kerry Cycle Route as the Sleepy Camel can arrange transport to and from Kerry Airport and provide luggage storage for the duration of the trip. Luggage transfer to the next accommodation on the trail can also be organised.
