Blackstones House is located beside the River Caragh where it overlooks Lickeen Wood and the distant MacGillycuddy Reeks. The Kerry Way passes within a few hundred metres of the house. Farmland also surrounds the house where cattle can always be found peacefully grazing.
Blackstones House is a family-run bed and breakfast that is approved by Fáilte Ireland and has been granted 4-stars. All of the bedrooms are ensuite with showers. There are Televisions in all the bedrooms showing the full range of satellite stations .
Evening meals can be arranged in advance. With decent weather permitting it is possible to get a table with views of Carrauntoohil. Guests are welcome to enjoy the scenery over a glass of wine and perhaps a game of chess. In advance of the next day's walk on the trail, a packed lunch and a luggage transfer can be organised to the next B&B on the Kerry Way.
Those wishing to stay another night in the area can enquire about going fishing for salmon in the River Caragh or getting a boat out to Lough Caragh which is around 3km away. Alternatively there are nice walks along the Caragh River, Lickeen Wood and up around Seefin Mountain (493m).
