The Kerry Way Book and Maps

The Kerry Way - Rucksack Readers

This book was written by Sandra Bardwell and released by Rucksack Readers in 2005. As with any publication by Rucksack Readers, this book is the perfect accompaniment for the Kerry Way. The book is beautifully illustrated with photographs, has comprehensive descriptions of the trail and a fold-out map at the back. Waterproof inside and out, this hardy book is well-prepared for all the Irish weather can throw at it!

Discovery Series Maps - Ordnance Survey Ireland

The Discovery Series of maps from the Ordnance Survey are the most widely used maps by walkers in Ireland. They are on a scale of 1:50,000 (2cm : 1km). Maps 78, 83 and 84 cover the vast majority of the Kerry Way, with a just 3km on maps 70 and 85.

Map 78 covers the sections from Killarney to Drung Hill, just after Mountain Stage. The Kerry Way is picked up again at Dromcunnia, just before Kenmare, and then includes the final stretch of the journey back to Killarney.

Map 83 nearly continues on from Map 78 at Drung Hill but misses out on 1km of trail to be found on Map 70. Map 83 covers both the Kerry Way alternatives between Waterville and Caherdaniel. It continues on to finish 1km short of Sneem.

Map 84 overlaps part of Map 83. Around 1km of trail is missing from where the Kerry Way splits into two alternative routes to the north-east of Lough Currane with Coomduff just off the page. It then covers all the sections up as far as Templenoe with Map 85 accounting for a missing chunk of 2km on the main N71 road.
