Mastergeehy is another of the isolated communities on the Kerry Way that is dispersed around a broad valley. Although the Post Office would usually be the focal point of a community, the real hub of the area is around 3½km to the north-east in Killeenleagh.
'Forbairt na Dromoda' is based in Killeenleagh. This is a collection of community-based projects including a service to care for the elderly, childcare, community hall, business units and Dromid Hostel. Separate to these ventures is the school, shop and pub.
Mastergeehy is within a 'Gaeltacht' region which means it is where the Irish language is used in part of everyday life.
