Sneem is a village divided into two halves by the Sneem River. Each half of the village is symmetrical to the other with matching triangular greens surrounded by houses, pubs and shops. There is a relaxed feel to the village with plenty of space to sit down to and watch the daily lives of the locals.
One such local was Steve 'Crusher' Casey who is immortalised in a life-sized bronze statue. Casey dominated world heavyweight wrestling for over a decade in the 1930's and 40's. Such was Caseys' reputation that he found it difficult to find other European wrestlers to take him on.
