Waterville is a popular seaside destination that looks out over Ballinskelligs Bay. The seafront is lined with a string of pubs, restaurants and accommodation of various types. Behind this strip of land lies Lough Currane which lends its name to the original Irish title of the town - An Coireán.
The unmistakable gait of Charlie Chaplin greets onlookers at the seafront. The statue stands as a memorial to this well-loved regular visitor of Waterville. Building on this strong connection, the first Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival was held in the town in August 2011. The festival was such a success, it is hoped that this will now become an annual event.
Entertainment that happens on a more regular basis can be found at the Tech Amergin Arts Centre. There are frequent traditional music evenings, plays and art exhibitions held in the venue.
