The Sive Hostel is located in the centre of Cahersiveen and is at the finishing point of the Kerry Way spur where it reaches the town. The hostel has a total of ten bedrooms which vary in size from private double and twin rooms to dormitories that sleep up to 8 people. These are a mix of ensuites and shared bathrooms.

There is a renovated two-storey stone cottage to the rear of the hostel that provides more secluded accommodation. The upper and lower floors both have their own separate entrance. These are ideally suited for a family or a small group who would prefer to have their own space. The downstairs level sleeps four people in two double bedrooms, whereas upstairs sleeps up to six people in two rooms with two double beds and two bunk beds. There is also a basic kitchenette on the upper floor.

On cold evenings, the stove is lit in the guest lounge at the front of the hostel. There is a selection of DVDs to watch or else a range of free to air satellite stations. There are many books on local history and travel to browse through and a selection of board games to play. Music lovers are free to play some music on the Hi-Fi or perhaps sing some songs with the hostel's guitar.

The ingredients for a basic breakfast is included in the price of the hostel. This includes cereal, milk, bread, butter, jam, tea and coffee. Guests have access to a full kitchen at any time of the day to prepare their meals. With some advance notice, guests can also pay extra for a traditional Irish breakfast. This needs to be ordered the night before or ideally at check-in. The staff at Sive Hostel are happy to reserve a table for an evening meal for any guests that expect to arrive late in the evening.

The staff are also happy to organise a reliable taxi, charging reasonable rates, for walkers on the Kerry Way who want to be either collected from Foilmore or deposited back to the trail at Coars in the morning. Alternatively, reservations can be made for those looking to visit the Skellig Islands, with a free pick-up from the door of the hostel to the departure point at Portmagee.

Cyclists on the Ring of Kerry Cycle Route, can store their bicycles in the open shed at the back of the hostel. Other guests can hire a bicycle locally for the day and explore Valentia Island.
