The Old Weir Lodge is located outside the centre of Killarney on the Muckross Road and is on the Kerry Way. It is a Fáilte Ireland approved guest house that has been awarded 4 stars and it has also been graded by the AA as a 5 star accommodation.
This family-run guest house has 30 bedrooms in total, all of which are ensuite with a bath and shower. Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, a television and a direct-dial phone line. There is free Wi-Fi access throughout the house as well as a computer to access the Internet free of charge.
The Dinis Lounge is available to guests to sit and relax or watch the television. There is also a small bar area to enjoy a drink. Alternatively, the Bricín Lounge is a quieter space for reading a book, playing cards or browsing the Internet.
Evening meals in the Old Weir Lodge can be booked in advance for groups of at least 15 people. A packed lunch can also be organised with prior warning for those walking the Kerry Way.
The O'Donoghue Family have a long tradition of operating boats on the Killarney Lakes. This provides a great alternative start to the Kerry Way. Instead of walking the stage between Killarney and Galway's Bridge twice, one can take a boat from Ross Castle and start the trail from Lord Brandon's Cottage in Black Valley.
