Klondyke House is located on the Ring of Kerry road at the northern edge of Waterville. The Kerry Way is within a 5 minute walk from the house and the Ring of Kerry Cycle Route also passes close by to the house.
The Bed and Breakfast is approved by Fáilte Ireland and has six bedrooms. Each room has an ensuite with a shower, a television and tea/coffee making facilities. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house for guests with laptops or Internet-enabled phones. Upstairs bedrooms that are to the front of the house provide sunset views across Ballinskelligs Bay, which is within 300 metres of the house.
With enough prior notice, walkers on the Kerry Way can arrange for free transport from the trail to avoid the road section coming into the village. Transport can also be provided to the rejoin the trail, if planning to walk the inland stage to Caherdaniel. A packed lunch can be ordered for the morning and luggage can be transferred on to the next accommodation on the trail.
In the immediate surrounds of Klondyke House is the Waterville Craft Market (next door) and Dooley's Restaurant (across the road). In the evenings, many tired and weary walkers are happy to stay close to stay close to the B&B. At this half-way point on the Kerry Way, many walkers opt to take a rest day in Waterville and do something different.
Bicycles can be hired locally and directions given for the highly-recommended trip around the Skellig Ring and Valencia Island. Alternatively, a trip out to see the ancient monastic settlement on the Skellig Islands can be organised. The itinerary for a private guided bus tour also be planned for groups of 6-8 people.
In the evening time, there are frequently events held at the local 'Tech Amergin' Arts Centre. Such events include traditional Irish music nights, plays and art exhibitions. Also, in what looks to become an annual event, after a successful inaugural year in 2011, is the Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival. It is hoped that this will now occur every August.
