The Climber's Inn has long been associated with those climbing Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohill, and the remainder of the MacGillycuddy's Reeks range. The Inn is located in the centre of Glencar and is at a traditional stage-end of the Kerry Way.
The Climber's Inn offers a range of different accommodation options from B&B, to hostel, self-catering apartment and there is also a green area for camping.
Seperate to the main bar area of the building, there are seven private bedrooms on the upper floor in the Climber's Inn. These include one family room, three double rooms and three twin rooms. Each room has an ensuite, a flatscreen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. A full cooked breakfast is included in the price for guests staying in these rooms.
The Climber's Inn has an eight-bed hostel-style dormitory that is located on the ground flooor. There is a bathroom within the dormitory and there is access to laundary facilities. Hostel guests can use the self-catering kitchen and a continental breakfast is provided in the morning.
There is a two bedroom apartment with separate access to the main building. It can sleep up to six people and has a self-catering kitchen which includes laundary facilities.
There is space behind the Climber's Inn where hikers are welcome to pitch a tent and have access to shower and toilet facilities.
The main pub section of the Climber's Inn serves evening food, from it's Pizza Menu, from 18.00 to 20.00. For entertainment, there is live traditional music on bank holiday weekends, live sporting events shown on the TV, and a pool table. There is free Wi-Fi access available throughout the bar area.
A small shop and post office adjoin the main pub. It stocks basic food supplies from fresh bread and milk to dried and tinned foods. Ordnance Survey maps and walking guide books are also available to purchase.
With enough advance notice, the Climber's Inn can book guests in with Kerry Climbing for a guided walk of the MacGillycuddy's Reeks, or an outdoor education course at the Cappanlea Centre.
Packed lunches are available for walkers, with prior notice, and a luggage transfer to the next accommodation on the Kerry Way can also be arranged.
